David Leonard is the President and Founder of Aluvion Energies LLC.  David is an energy attorney, engineer and executive specializing in large-scale project and business development and acquisitions with major multinational public corporations and venture capital funded start-ups with on-the-ground experience in Hawaii, Asia and the Mainland U.S.

David has held technical, legal and executive positions in the energy sector since graduating from University of California at Berkeley in 1979 with honors. David first worked as a resident construction engineer and owner’s representative on petroleum pipeline, storage terminal and jet fuel airport hydrant system projects and is a registered professional civil engineer. After graduating from law school at University of California at Davis in 1990 in the top 20% of his class, David supported the refining and marketing functions at Chevron and BHP Billiton and then served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Tesoro’s Asia Pacific region.  David also served as the legal officer for the BHP and Tesoro Oil Spill Response Unified Command and is a member of the Maritime Law Association of the U.S.

In 2005, David completed his executive MBA from University of California at Los Angeles and the National University of Singapore with classes in Los Angeles, Singapore, Shanghai and joined Imperium Renewables Hawaii as their Chief Operating Officer. David continues to focus on the energy sector through his leadership at Aluvion Energies LLC with clients that have included Rentech, Solazyme, Hawaiian Electric Company and other major corporations, investors and early stage start-ups.
